Just a few short hours before the end of 2011. A year of ups and downs…
It started kinda crappy. I lost my job at the end of February. I was kinda devastated at first, but in hindsight, it was a blessing, cuz I don’t think I would have been able to work there too long. A hugely unionized office, and you know my thoughts on unions.
I found a job not too long after, but the first few weeks were hell. I even developed some panic attacks, and started questioning my choice of working there. As it turned out, once I got accustomed to the company, I now feel at home there. So much, in fact, that they have given be a permanent position with the company, instead of being a consultant. Huge pay raise, awesome benefits, and a sense of accomplishment I’ve never had in any of my previous jobs.
I also got to enjoy my first summer in our new house, in our pool, where we even hosted a few barbecue. I was really a great summer.
Finally, I was able to cross the pond for the first time about a month ago, when we spent a week in Paris. A truly amazing city, where we saw things I always dreamed of seeing. And those Christmas markets were truly amazing. We’re so going back next year!
So tonight, we’re hosting New Year’s Eve at our house, about 30 family members will be there. I’m really excited, albeit a little nervous. But we’re going to celebrate in style!
To you and yours, a Happy New Year 2012!
